The American Legion Riders (ALR) at Northville, MI, part of the Lloyd H. Green Post 147, have a rich history rooted in service and community. The ALR at Post 147 was established to bring together motorcycle enthusiasts who share a commitment to supporting veterans, their families, and the broader community. They participate in numerous activities, including patriotic parades, charity rides, and community service projects. The Northville Riders are actively involved in fundraising efforts, such as the Legacy Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to children of fallen military personnel. The Riders' presence enhances the camaraderie and outreach efforts of the Northville Post 147, making significant contributions to both the local and veterans' communities.
I alone am responsible for myself and to my fellow riders. I will conduct myself with the highest degree of integrity and honor.
Deeds not words create change. I will persevere against any and all things that prevent my success. My resolve and strength will overcome all obstacles.
Each rider is first a member of the American Legion Family. I will actively participate in and willingly support their endeavors.
Readily will I join other riders in activities and events which support our missions. I will do so gladly knowing I volunteered to be an American Legion Rider.
Success is the only acceptable conclusion. I will allow nothing to dissuade me or impede me from service to my Family, Community, Country and especially to our Veterans.
Since its inception, the emblem of the American Legion Riders (ALR) has undergone several changes, culminating in the current design depicted on the left. The American Eagle, with its wings spread and ready for flight, symbolizes the Americanism and core values of the Legion, along with the sense of freedom and camaraderie cherished by ALR members.
As a vital component of the American Legion, the ALR emblem prominently features the Legion's emblem at the heart of the eagle. This placement signifies the close relationship and shared philosophy between the Legion and the Riders. The unified design highlights the mission and values that bind the Legion and its community of Riders together.
